What is propolis?

PROPOLIS, also known as “bee glue” or “bee putty” is a resin-like material made by the bees from the buds of poplar and cone bearing trees. The bees cover every inch of their hive with PROPOLIS to keep it sterile. 

Queens will only lay their eggs where PROPOLIS has been deposited in the comb. 

Bee PROPOLIS has powerful antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, making it naturally antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral. Bee PROPOLIS   resin is high in flavonoids, which are essential to a plant’s defense system.

Flavonoids is a fancy word for plant compounds that contain high levels of antioxidant activity. Phenolics are compounds produced by a plant that protect the plant against stress. Both Flavonoids and Phenolics are found in most fruits and vegetables and have been attributed to many of the health benefits found in plant based foods.
